Instructions
1. Loosen Lug Nuts: Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels but leave them slightly tightened
2. Elevate Vehicle: Use a jack to lift the front of your vehicle and place it on jack stands
3. Remove Front Wheels: Remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels
4. Locate the Power Steering Pump: The power steering pump is located on the front of the engine, usually on the driver's side
5. Disconnect Hoses: Disconnect the hoses connected to the power steering pump by loosening the hose clamps. Make sure to catch any residual fluid that might leak out
6. Remove Mounting Bolts: Use the 3/8-inch drive ratchet and socket to remove the mounting bolts that hold the power steering pump in place
7. Remove the Power Steering Pump: Once the mounting bolts are removed, you can carefully take out the power steering pump
8. Clean Mounting Surface: Clean the mounting surface on the engine to remove any old gasket material or debris
9. Install New Power Steering Pump: Place the new power steering pump back onto the mounting surface and secure it with the mounting bolts
10. Reconnect Hoses: Reconnect the hoses that you disconnected earlier and tighten the hose clamps
11. Check and Fill Fluid Level: Check the power steering fluid reservoir (often marked with a "PS" label) and add fluid if needed. Use the specific type of fluid recommended for your vehicle
12. Install Wheels and Lower Vehicle: Reinstall the front wheels, tighten the lug nuts, and then lower the vehicle back down using the jack
13. Start Engine and Check for Leaks: Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check underneath the vehicle for any leaks. If no leaks are found, you have successfully installed the new power steering pump
Note: Ensure that you bleed the power steering system to remove any air trapped inside. Refer to your vehicle's owner manual for specific instructions on bleeding the power steering system
Always take safety precautions when working on your vehicle. If you are not comfortable with any of the steps, you should consult with a professional mechanic.
