1. Stop the vehicle and park on a level surface. Shift the transmission into Neutral.
2. Lift the hood and put the parking brake on.
3. Locate the transfer case shift lever. It is usually located on the driver’s side of the transmission and should have a knob or handle on it.
4. Move the transfer case shift lever to the 2WD position. This may require pushing the lever down or pulling it up, depending on the model.
5. Close the hood and start the engine. The 4WD indicator light on the dashboard should be off, indicating that the vehicle is now in 2WD.
6. Test the 4WD system by driving slowly in a parking lot or on a dirt road. Make sure that the vehicle doesn't engage 4WD when you don't want it to.
