How do you replace a thermostat on 2001 dodge ram 2500 v-10?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Replacement Thermostat**

-Thermostat gasket(if needed, depending on the thermostat type)

-5/8-inch socket

-Ratchet

-Extension

-Anti-freeze

-Funnel

-Screwdriver

-Container to catch coolant

Instructions:

1. Park the truck on level ground and turn off the engine. Allow it to cool down completely.

2. Open the hood and locate the thermostat housing. It is usually located on the front of the engine, near the top.

3. Place a container under the thermostat housing to catch any coolant that may spill.

4. Use the 5/8-inch socket and ratchet to loosen the bolts holding the thermostat housing in place. Remove the bolts and carefully remove the thermostat housing.

5. If your thermostat does not have a gasket, apply a thin layer of sealant to the mating surfaces of the thermostat housing and the engine block.

6. Place the new thermostat in the housing. Make sure that the thermostat is installed correctly, with the spring facing down.

7. Replace the thermostat housing and bolts, and tighten the bolts until they are snug.

8. Refill the radiator with coolant. Use a funnel to add coolant slowly, and be careful not to overfill.

9. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks around the thermostat housing.

10. Turn off the engine and check the coolant level again. Add more coolant if necessary.
