Step 1: Locate the transmission pan
The transmission pan is a metal pan located on the bottom of the transmission. It is typically rectangular and has a drain plug in the center.
Step 2: Transmission filter
The transmission filter is a cylindrical-shaped object located on the side of the transmission. It is typically held in place by bolts or clips.
Step 3: Transmission fluid dipstick
The transmission fluid dipstick is a long, thin metal rod with a red handle. It is located on the side of the transmission near the transmission filter.
Step 4: Transmission fluid level
Check the transmission fluid level. The transmission fluid level should be between the “Full” and “Add” marks on the dipstick. If the transmission fluid level is low, add transmission fluid until the level is correct.
Step 5: Transmission shift lever
The transmission shift lever is located on the center console. It is used to select the gear that the transmission is in.
Step 6: Park/neutral safety switch
The park/neutral safety switch is a safety feature that prevents the engine from starting unless the transmission is in park or neutral. It is located on the side of the transmission.
