_Tools Needed:_
Phillips head screwdriver
5/16" wrench
_Parts Needed:_
Fuel pressure regulator
1. Release fuel pressure by removing Schrader valve at the fuel rail on top of the motor on the passenger side of the intake plenum. If possible it's best to wrap in in a shop rag in case there is residual fuel pressure, that way it will soak up the fuel and won't soak the engine compartment down with fuel. Be sure to allow all pressure to bleed down.
2. Disconnect vacuum line from fuel pressure regulator.
3. Remove the two 5/16" bolts holding the fuel regulator to the intake manifold and carefully remove. Take care not to move anything else or anything may come apart that would result in needing extra fuel system repair.
4. Remove O-ring from old regulator and transfer it to the new regulator.
5. Carefully install the new regulator so as not to move anything else.
6. Hand-tighten the two 5/16" bolts, then tighten them snugly with a 5/16" wrench.
7. Reconnect vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator and tighten clamp.
8. Start engine and check for fuel leaks. If there are no leaks, reinstall the Schrader valve.
_Notes:_
- Be sure to disconnect the negative battery terminal before beginning this repair.
- If you have a fuel injection system with an accumulator, you will need to disconnect it before starting this repair.
- Be careful when working with fuel lines, as they are under pressure and can cause injury if not handled properly.
- If you have any questions or concerns about this repair, please consult a professional mechanic.
