To recharge the air conditioning system of a Lincoln car with HFC-134a, follow these steps:
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the low-pressure service port on the air conditioning system. It is usually a metal valve with a blue cap. This is the port used to add refrigerant.
3. Connect a refrigerant charging hose to the low-pressure service port.
4. Open the refrigerant tank and connect the other end of the charging hose to the tank.
5. Start the engine and turn on the air conditioning system to its maximum setting.
6. Slowly open the valve on the refrigerant tank to allow the refrigerant to enter the system.
7. Monitor the pressure gauge on the charging hose. The pressure should rise as the refrigerant is added.
8. Once the system reaches the desired pressure (typically around 25-30 PSI), close the valve on the refrigerant tank.
9. Disconnect the charging hose from the low-pressure service port and replace the cap.
10. Turn off the engine and the air conditioning system.
