How do you take out the Transmission in a 2000 Ford Taurus Wagon?

Tools Needed:

- 3/8-inch drive ratchet

- 10mm socket

- 13mm socket

- 15mm socket

- 18mm socket

- 22mm socket

- Extension

- Pry bar

- Fluid drain pan

- Transmission jack

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical shorts from happening while you are working on the transmission.

2. Drain the transmission fluid. This can be done by removing the drain plug on the bottom of the transmission pan. Allow all of the fluid to drain out into a fluid drain pan.

3. Remove the transmission pan. Once all of the fluid has drained out, you can remove the transmission pan by removing the bolts that hold it in place. Be careful not to spill any fluid.

4. Remove the torque converter bolts. The torque converter is located at the front of the transmission. There are four bolts that hold it in place. Remove these bolts and then remove the torque converter.

5. Unbolt the transmission mounts. There are two transmission mounts, one on each side of the transmission. Remove the bolts that hold the mounts in place.

6. Disconnect the transmission lines. The transmission lines carry fluid to and from the transmission. Disconnect the lines by removing the bolts that hold them in place.

7. Lower the transmission. You will need to use a transmission jack to lower the transmission. Position the jack under the transmission and then slowly lower the transmission until it is on the ground.

Tips:

- Make sure that you have all of the necessary tools before you begin.

- Be careful not to spill any transmission fluid.

- If you are not comfortable performing this task, you should take your vehicle to a qualified mechanic.
