Step 1: Disconnect the battery
Before you begin working on the stereo, it is important to disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical shocks from occurring. To disconnect the battery, simply loosen the negative terminal bolt and remove the cable.
Step 2: Remove the trim panel
The stereo is located behind the trim panel on the dashboard. To remove the trim panel, use a flathead screwdriver to pry up the edges of the panel. Be careful not to damage the panel. Once the panel is loose, you can remove it by hand.
Step 3: Remove the stereo
Once the trim panel is removed, you will see the stereo. The stereo is held in place by four screws. Use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the screws. Once the screws are removed, you can pull the stereo out of the dash.
Step 4: Disconnect the wiring
The stereo is connected to the vehicle's electrical system by several wires. To disconnect the wires, simply unplug them from the back of the stereo. Be sure to label the wires so that you can reconnect them correctly later.
Step 5: Remove the stereo brackets
The stereo is also held in place by two brackets. To remove the brackets, use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold them in place. Once the screws are removed, you can remove the brackets.
Step 6: Install the new stereo
To install the new stereo, simply reverse the steps that you took to remove the old stereo. Be sure to connect the wires correctly.
Step 7: Reconnect the battery
Once the new stereo is installed, you can reconnect the battery. Simply reconnect the negative terminal cable to the battery and tighten the bolt.
Step 8: Test the stereo
Turn on the stereo and test it to make sure that it is working properly.
