2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. This will prevent you from getting shocked while you are working.
3. Remove the serpentine belt. This is done by loosening the tensioner pulley bolt and then removing the belt.
4. Unplug the electrical connectors from the alternator. There are two connectors: one for the field wire and one for the stator wire.
5. Remove the two nuts that hold the alternator in place. They are located on the front of the alternator.
6. Remove the alternator from the vehicle. Be careful not to drop it.
7. Remove the mounting bolt from the back of the alternator. It may be necessary to use a breaker bar to loosen the bolt.
8. Reinstall the alternator in reverse order of removal. Be sure to tighten the mounting bolt securely.
9. Reconnect the serpentine belt.
10. Reconnect the electrical connectors to the alternator.
11. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
