2. Number the spark plug wires. Use a piece of chalk or a felt-tip pen to number the spark plug wires from 1 to 8. Start with the wire that is closest to the front of the engine, and work your way around in a clockwise direction.
3. Remove the spark plug wires. Pull each spark plug wire straight up from the distributor cap. Be careful not to damage the wires.
4. Install the new spark plug wires. Push each new spark plug wire into the corresponding hole in the distributor cap. Make sure that the wires are seated firmly.
5. Start the engine. Verify that the engine is running smoothly. If the engine is not running properly, check the spark plug wires to make sure that they are connected correctly.
