1. Onboard Programming:
- Insert the new key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position (II).
- Do not start the engine.
- Quickly turn the key to the "OFF" position (0) and back to "ON" (II) four more times.
- On the fifth turn, leave it in the "ON" position.
- The security or immobilizer light should start blinking.
2. Programming Mode:
- While the light is blinking, press the "Unlock" and "Lock" buttons on your car key simultaneously and hold them for about three seconds.
- The security light should stop blinking and remain solid for a few seconds, indicating successful entry into programming mode.
3. Vehicle Response:
- Some Acura models may respond by honking the horn, flashing the lights, or clicking the locks to acknowledge that it is ready to receive the key code.
- Ensure you pay close attention to any auditory or visual cues.
4. Key Coding:
- Within 10 seconds, press and hold the "Lock" button on your key while releasing the "Unlock" button.
- While holding the "Lock" button, press the "Unlock" button eight times in rapid succession.
- The security or immobilizer light may blink or flash during this step.
5. Confirmation Step:
- Release both buttons and quickly turn the key to the "OFF" position (0) and back to "ON" (II).
- The security light should remain solid for several seconds, confirming successful key programming.
If the process is successful, your new key should now be able to start the car. If the security or immobilizer light remains blinking or the car doesn't start, you might need to repeat the steps carefully, or it could indicate an issue with the key or the vehicle's immobilizer system.
