1. Disconnect the battery: This will help to prevent accidental electrical shocks while working.
2. Locate the neutral safety switch: The switch is located on the driver's side of the transmission. Remove the plastic cover on the side of the transmission to expose the neutral safety switch.
3. Disconnect the electrical connectors: There should be two electrical connectors connected to the neutral safety switch. Disconnect these connectors using a flathead screwdriver.
4. Remove the old neutral switch: Unscrew the bolts holding the neutral switch in place and then remove the switch.
5. Install the new neutral switch: Position the new switch in place and screw it in using the bolts you removed in the previous step.
6. Reconnect the electrical connectors: Plug the electrical connectors back into the neutral safety switch.
7. Reattach the plastic cover: Reattach the plastic cover on the side of the transmission.
8. Reconnect the battery: Reconnect the battery to restore power to the vehicle.
Test the neutral safety switch to make sure it is working properly. Shift the transmission into neutral and then try to start the engine. If the engine starts, the neutral safety switch is working properly.
