How do you change spark plugs on a 2000 Hyundai Accent GL?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- New Spark Plugs (4)

- Spark Plug Wrench

- Socket Wrench with 10mm Socket

- Gapping Tool (if necessary)

- Dielectric Grease

Instructions:

1. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool completely. This is important to avoid burns.

2. Open the hood of your Hyundai Accent.

3. Locate the spark plugs. They are located on the top of the engine, near the front.

4. Disconnect the spark plug wires. Use the spark plug wrench to loosen the nuts holding the wires in place. Be careful not to drop the nuts into the engine compartment.

5. Remove the old spark plugs. Use the socket wrench with the 10mm socket to loosen and remove the old spark plugs. Be careful not to drop them.

6. Check the gap on the new spark plugs. The gap is the distance between the center electrode and the ground electrode. It should be between 0.045 and 0.055 inches (1.14 and 1.39 mm). If necessary, use the gapping tool to adjust the gap.

7. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs. This will help to prevent them from seizing in the cylinder head.

8. Screw in the new spark plugs. Use the socket wrench with the 10mm socket to tighten the new spark plugs. Do not over-tighten the spark plugs, as this can damage the threads.

9. Reconnect the spark plug wires. Use the spark plug wrench to tighten the nuts holding the wires in place. Be careful not to over-tighten the nuts, as this can damage the wires.

10. Close the hood of your Hyundai Accent. You are now finished changing the spark plugs.

Tips:

- If you are not comfortable changing the spark plugs yourself, you can have a qualified mechanic do it for you.

- It is a good idea to change the spark plugs in your Hyundai Accent every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or every 3 years, whichever comes first.

- Changing the spark plugs is a relatively simple task that can be done in about 30 minutes.
