- New differential fluid (SAE 75W-90 GL-5 or equivalent)
- Drain pan
- Funnel
- 10mm wrench or socket
- Oil filter wrench (optional)
Procedure:
1. Park your car on a level surface.
2. Engage the parking brake.
3. Crawl underneath the car and locate the differential. It is usually located at the rear of the transmission.
4. Place the drain pan under the differential.
5. Use the 10mm wrench or socket to loosen the drain plug.
6. Allow the old differential fluid to drain out completely.
7. Once the old fluid has drained out, replace the drain plug.
8. Use the funnel to add new differential fluid to the differential.
9. Add enough fluid until it reaches the fill plug hole.
10. Replace the fill plug.
11. Lower the car and test drive it to check for any leaks.
Note:
- If the differential has not been serviced for a long time, it may be necessary to remove the differential cover and clean it before adding new fluid.
- Be careful not to overfill the differential, as this can cause damage to the differential seals.
