Where do you put transmission fluid in a 1990 Toyota Camry?

1990 Toyota Camry Automatic Transmission

- Locate the transmission fluid dipstick, which is usually color-coded in red or orange and found near the back of the engine compartment, usually next to the transmission pan.

- Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a rag.

- Re-insert the dipstick into the transmission until it is fully seated.

- Pull it out again and check the fluid level, which should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.

- If the fluid level is low, use a funnel to add enough fluid to bring it to the "full" mark.

- Use only the recommended transmission fluid type, as specified in the owner's manual.

- Do not overfill the transmission, as this can cause problems.

1990 Toyota Camry Manual Transmission

- Locate the transmission fluid filler plug, which is usually a 17mm bolt on the top of the transmission.

- To access the filler plug, you may need to remove a plastic cover or guard.

- Use a wrench to loosen the filler plug.

- If there's an overflow plug next to the filler plug, unscrew it just a bit, enough to allow the transmission oil to flow back into the transmission in the event of overflowing it; keep it in hand.

- Once you have loosened the filler plug, insert a funnel into the hole and start pouring the manual transmission fluid into the transmission.

- Continue adding transmission fluid until the transmission fluid starts coming out of the fill hole.

- Once the fluid starts coming out, immediately install the filler plug.

- Tighten the filler plug securely.

- Replace the plastic cover or guard, if applicable.
