2. Have the vehicle's emissions system inspected. The emissions system includes the catalytic converter, oxygen sensors, and other components. A qualified mechanic can inspect the emissions system and identify any problems.
3. Repair any problems that are found. If the emissions system is found to be faulty, you must have the problem repaired by a qualified mechanic. Failure to repair emissions system problems can result in increased emissions levels and may lead to fines.
4. Reset the emissions light. Once the problem has been repaired, you can reset the emissions light by disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery; for 30 seconds, reconnect it.
5. If the emission's light stays on after resetting you might want to take it to an automobile shop to have a diagnostics on it.
