The cabin air filter on a 1996 Lexus GS 300 is located in the passenger-side footwell, behind the glove box.
To access the cabin air filter:
1. Open the glove box.
2. On the left side of the glove box opening, there is a black plastic cover held in place by two plastic clips.
3. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the two plastic clips and remove the cover.
4. Behind the cover, you will see the cabin air filter.
To replace the cabin air filter:
1. Pull out the old filter.
2. Insert the new filter in the same orientation as the old filter.
3. Replace the black plastic cover and close the glove box.
Tips:
* The cabin air filter should be replaced every 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.
* A dirty cabin air filter can cause decreased airflow, reduced heating and cooling performance, and musty odors.
* If you live in a dusty or polluted area, you may want to replace the cabin air filter more frequently.
