1. Park your car on level ground and apply the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually a bright yellow or orange handle located near the back of the engine compartment.
3. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag. Re-insert the dipstick into the transmission until it is fully seated.
4. Pull out the dipstick again and check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
5. If the fluid is low, you will need to add some. Use a funnel to pour transmission fluid slowly into the dipstick tube until the fluid level reaches the "full" mark.
6. Re-insert the dipstick until it is fully seated. Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes. Check the transmission fluid level again and make sure it is still at the "full" mark.
7. If the fluid is still low, repeat steps 5 and 6.
