How do you install my car stereo to have constant power for memory?

Step 1: Disconnect the Car Battery

Before starting, disconnect the negative terminal of your car battery. This will help prevent any electrical accidents or damage to your car's electrical system.

Step 2: Remove the Old Stereo

First, you need to remove your car's old stereo. This process will vary depending on the make and model of your vehicle. Generally, you'll need to use a screwdriver or pry tool to remove the trim panel that surrounds the stereo, and then you can unscrew the stereo itself and disconnect its wiring.

Step 3: Connect the Memory Wire

Once the old stereo is removed, you'll need to connect the memory wire from your new stereo to the constant power source in your car's electrical system. Constant power is typically found on the fuse block or ignition switch. Use a voltmeter to determine which wire provides constant power. Connect the memory wire from the new stereo to this wire.

Step 4: Connect the Other Wiring

After the memory wire is connected, you can connect the other wiring for your new stereo. Refer to the instructions included with your stereo for the proper wiring diagram. Typically, you'll need to connect the following wires:

* Red wire: This is the power wire that connects the stereo to the battery.

* Black wire: This is the ground wire that connects the stereo to the chassis of the car.

* Yellow wire: This is the memory wire that retains preset channels and the time when disconnected from power.

* Orange wire: This is the illumination wire that dims the stereo display when your headlights are turned on.

* Blue wire: This is the remote wire that turns on your amplifier (if you have one) when the stereo is turned on.

* Green wire: This is the left front speaker wire.

* White wire: This is the right front speaker wire.

* Grey wire: This is the left rear speaker wire.

* Purple wire: This is the right rear speaker wire.

Step 5: Test the Stereo

Once all of the wiring is connected, you can reconnect the negative terminal of your car battery and turn on the stereo. Test the stereo to make sure that it's working properly.

Step 6: Clean and Replace Trim Panel

Clean or replace old panel and screw in the new car stereo into place.
