1. Open the hood of your Cavalier.
2. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually at the rear of the transmission, on the passenger side.
3. Remove the transmission fluid dipstick.
4. Look into the transmission fluid dipstick tube. You will see a small, cylindrical object with a wire connection. This is the torque converter clutch solenoid.
5. Use a pair of pliers to gently pry the wire connector off of the solenoid.
6. Once the wire connector is disconnected, you can remove the solenoid by simply pulling it out of the transmission fluid dipstick tube.
7. Inspect the solenoid for any damage. If the solenoid is damaged, you will need to replace it.
8. To reinstall the solenoid, simply insert it into the transmission fluid dipstick tube and reconnect the wire connector.
9. Replace the transmission fluid dipstick.
This will disconnect the torque converter clutch solenoid on your Chevy Cavalier.
