How do you change drive belt?

Changing a drive belt on a vehicle typically involves the following steps:

1. Park the vehicle and apply the parking brake. Make sure the vehicle is on a level surface, and that the parking brake is engaged.

2. Locate the drive belt. The drive belt is usually located on the front of the engine, near the crankshaft and other pulleys. It may be covered by a protective cover or shroud.

3. Remove the belt tensioner. The belt tensioner is a device that keeps the drive belt tight. It is usually located near the drive belt, and may be held in place by a bolt or nut. To remove the belt tensioner, simply loosen the bolt or nut and slide the tensioner out of the way.

4. Remove the old drive belt. Once the belt tensioner is removed, you can remove the old drive belt. To do this, simply slide the belt off of the pulleys.

5. Inspect the drive belt. Before installing the new drive belt, inspect the old belt for signs of wear or damage. If the belt is cracked, frayed, or glazed, it should be replaced.

6. Install the new drive belt. To install the new drive belt, simply reverse the steps you took to remove the old belt. Slide the new belt onto the pulleys, and then re-install the belt tensioner.

7. Tighten the belt tensioner. Once the belt tensioner is re-installed, tighten the bolt or nut that holds it in place. The belt tensioner should be tight enough to keep the drive belt from slipping, but not so tight that it puts excessive stress on the belt.

8. Test the drive belt. Once the drive belt is installed, start the vehicle and let it run for a few minutes. Listen for any unusual noises, and check to make sure that the drive belt is running smoothly.
