The firing order for a Chevy Caprice I with a 5.0L engine is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. This means that the spark plug wires should be connected to the distributor cap in the following order:

1. Cylinder 1 (front passenger side)
2. Cylinder 8 (rear driver side)
3. Cylinder 4 (front driver side)
4. Cylinder 3 (rear passenger side)
5. Cylinder 6 (middle front passenger side)
6. Cylinder 5 (middle front driver side)
7. Cylinder 7 (middle rear passenger side)
8. Cylinder 2 (middle rear driver side)
