How do you tell which wire is positive or negative on a cars headlight?

Identify the Headlight Wires

- The headlight assembly will have three wires: a black wire ( Negative (Ground)), white with black stripe (Low Beam), and white wire (High Beam).

Test the Wires

- Connect a multimeter to the battery.

- While headlights are off touch one probe of the multimeter to black wire and touch other probe to White with black stripe wire, if voltage (12v) is displayed then these are the negative and low beam wires.

- Repeat process for high beam wires (White wire)
