First turn on the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes until it reaches operating temperature (usually indicated by the temperature gauge).
Park the vehicle on a level surface, turn off the engine, and apply the parking brake.
Ensure that the transmission is in neutral.
Pull out the transmission fluid dipstick (typically located towards the rear of the engine compartment).
Wipe the dipstick clean using a clean cloth or paper towel.
Reinsert the dipstick all the way into its tube.
Pull out the dipstick again and check the fluid level.
The fluid should be between the "ADD" and "FULL" marks on the dipstick.
If the fluid level is low, slowly add the recommended transmission fluid to the dipstick tube until it reaches the "FULL" mark.
Reinsert the dipstick and make sure the fluid level is correct.
Once you are done checking the transmission fluid level, ensure the dipstick is properly inserted back into the tube, then you can start the engine.
