1. Open the hood of your vehicle and locate the engine oil filter housing. It is typically located on the front side of the engine block.
2. If there is an oil filter cap, remove it.
3. Unscrew the oil filter counterclockwise with an oil filter wrench.
4. Apply a thin coat of new engine oil to the new oil filter gasket.
5. Screw the new oil filter clockwise until it is snug.
6. Replace the oil filter cap (if applicable).
7. Lower the hood of your vehicle.
