3. Locate the battery. The battery is located at the front of the engine compartment, on the driver's side.
4. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Loosen the negative battery cable clamp with a wrench and remove the clamp from the battery terminal. Be careful not to touch the positive and negative battery terminals together, as this could cause a short circuit.
5. Disconnect the positive battery cable. Loosen the positive battery cable clamp with a wrench and remove the clamp from the battery terminal.
6. Remove the old battery from the car. Lift the old battery out of the battery tray.
7. Clean the battery terminals and tray. Use a wire brush to clean the positive and negative battery terminals, as well as the battery tray. Remove any dirt or corrosion that has accumulated.
8. Install the new battery in the car. Place the new battery into the battery tray and make sure that it is properly seated. Connect the positive battery cable first and tighten the cable clamp securely. Then, connect the negative battery cable and tighten the cable clamp securely.
9. Close the hood of the car.
10. Start the engine and test the battery. Start the engine and check the voltage at the battery terminals with a voltmeter. The voltage should be between 12.6 and 14.2 volts. If the voltage is not within this range, the battery may be defective and should be replaced.
