Where is the fuel filter on a 2003 Volkswagen GTI located?

There is no fuel filter on a 2003 Volkswagen GTI. Instead, the fuel is filtered through the fuel pump module located inside the fuel tank. The fuel pump is cooled and lubricated by the fuel flowing through it and thus a fuel filter would impede function of the fuel pump. The screen on the pump module acts to prevent debris and impurities from entering the pump.
