- Use a plastic trim removal tool or a flat-head screwdriver to release the plastic cowling around the steering column.
3. Locate the Ignition Switch:
- The ignition switch is usually located on the right side of the steering column, near the lock cylinder.
4. Disconnect Electrical Connectors:
- Disconnect the electrical connectors attached to the ignition switch harness.
5. Remove the Steering Wheel Lock Cylinder:
- Insert the key and turn it to the "On" position.
- Use a lock cylinder removal tool to compress the spring clip and slide out the lock cylinder.
6. Remove the Ignition Switch:
- Use a screwdriver or a suitable wrench to remove the mounting bolts or screws holding the ignition switch in place.
- Pull out the faulty ignition switch.
7. Transfer Components to the New Switch:
- Transfer the key cylinder and the lock core if they are not worn out.
8. Install the New Ignition Switch:
- Insert the new ignition switch into its housing.
- Secure the switch with the mounting bolts or screws you removed earlier.
9. Reconnect Electrical Connectors:
- Reconnect the electrical connectors to the new ignition switch harness.
10. Test the Ignition Switch:
- Connect the negative battery terminal and turn the key to test the functionality.
11. Reassemble:
- Replace the steering wheel lock cylinder and the cowling panel.
