The battery warning light (also known as the "charging system" light) comes on when there is a problem with the vehicle's electrical system. Here are a few different causes:
- The battery's voltage is too low or too high
- The vehicle's serpentine belt or fan belt is worn or needs to be replaced
- One of the connections to the alternator or battery corroded or loose
- The alternator has died
