1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the car to cool down if it has been running.
2. Locate the fuel pump access panel. In the Bluebird ARX, it is usually located under the rear seat.
3. Remove the fuel pump access panel. You may need to use a Philips head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the panel in place.
4. Disconnect the negative terminal of the car battery. This will prevent any electrical accidents while working on the fuel pump.
5. Relieve fuel system pressure. You can do this by turning the ignition key to the "ON" position for 2 seconds and then back to the "OFF" position. Repeat this process several times until the fuel pressure is relieved.
6. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel pump. Use a wrench to loosen the fuel line connectors and disconnect the fuel lines. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
7. Remove the fuel pump mounting bolts. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts that hold the fuel pump in place.
8. Carefully remove the fuel pump from the tank. Be careful not to damage the fuel pump or the fuel tank.
9. Inspect the fuel pump and strainer for damage or wear. If either is damaged, replace them.
10. Install the new fuel pump. Place the new fuel pump into the fuel tank and secure it with the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
11. Connect the fuel lines to the fuel pump. Push the fuel lines onto the fuel pump connectors and secure them with the fuel line clamps.
12. Reconnect the negative terminal of the car battery.
13. Start the car and check for leaks. Look under the car for any dripping fuel. If there are any leaks, tighten the fuel line connections until the leaks stop.
14. Test the fuel pump. Turn on the ignition and listen for the fuel pump to run. The fuel pump should run for a few seconds and then turn off. If the fuel pump does not run, check the electrical connections and the fuel pump fuse.
If you are not comfortable performing this repair yourself, it is recommended to take your car to a qualified mechanic.
