- Replacement fuel filter
- Fuel line wrench or pliers
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Rags
- Safety glasses
Procedure
1. Park your vehicle in a safe location and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely before proceeding.
2. Locate the fuel filter. The fuel filter is typically located under the vehicle, near the fuel tank. It is usually a cylindrical-shaped object with two fuel lines connected to it.
3. Place a rag under the fuel filter to catch any spilled fuel.
4. Use the fuel line wrench or pliers to loosen the fuel line clamps on both sides of the fuel filter. Be careful not to damage the fuel lines.
5. Pull the fuel lines off the fuel filter. Some fuel may spill out, so be prepared to catch it with the rag.
6. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry the old fuel filter out of its bracket. Be careful not to damage the bracket.
7. Install the new fuel filter into the bracket. Make sure the fuel filter is seated properly and that the fuel line connections are secure.
8. Reinstall the fuel lines and tighten the fuel line clamps.
9. Start the engine and check for leaks. If there are no leaks, the fuel filter replacement is complete.
