1. Replacement water pump
2. Gasket
3. Fluid
4. Wrench Set
5. Pliers
6. Screwdriver
7. Bucket
Instructions:
1. Drain the fluid: Place a bucket underneath the car to collect fluid, then locate the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator. Unscrew the plug and allow all the fluid to drain.
2. Remove the serpentine belt: Turn the engine off and allow it to cool down. Use a wrench to loosen the belt tensioner and remove serpentine belt.
3. Remove the old pump: Locate the water pump on the front of the engine. It is usually driven by the serpentine belt. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts holding the pump in place, and remove the pump from the engine. Be careful not to damage the gasket.
4. Apply gasket and install new pump: Clean the surface where the water pump mates to the engine block and install the new water pump. Use gasket sealer around the gasket, then install the bolts. Tighten the bolts until snug.
5. Reinstall serpentine belt: Route the serpentine belt over the pulleys, then use the wrench to loosen the belt tensioner. Slide the belt into the tensioner and turn the tensioner clockwise until the belt is snug.
6. Refill the fluid: Add the fluid slowly to the radiator until full. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, then check the fluid level again and top off if necessary.
NOTE: If the water pump is leaking, it may be due to a faulty seal. In this case, you may be able to replace the seal without having to replace the pump.
