2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Remove the taillight housing by removing the two screws that hold it in place and then pull the housing straight out.

4. Locate the turn signal and brake light wires (green and red wires) on the back of the taillight housing and then strip the ends of the wires.

5. Connect the green turn signal wires and red brake light wires from the trailer wiring harness to the corresponding taillight housing wires using the included crimp connectors.

6. Connect the white ground wire from the trailer wiring harness to a clean metal surface on the vehicle using a self-tapping screw.

7. Locate the reverse light wire (typically purple) on the transmission. Strip the end of the wire, then connect the purple wire from the trailer wiring harness to the reverse light wire using a crimp connector.

8. Locate the license plate light wire. Strip the end of the wire, then connect the black wire from the trailer wiring harness to the license plate light wire using a crimp connector.

9. Route the trailer wiring harness through the grommet on the driver’s side rear of the vehicle.

10. Connect the four pin connector from the trailer wiring harness to the vehicle’s existing four pin connector.

11. Reinstall the taillight housing.

12. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

13. Test the trailer wiring harness by connecting a trailer to the vehicle.

If you have a separate red wire, you may be able to connect it to a dedicated circuit that powers your running lights. This will allow the lights on your trailer to be illuminated when your parking lights are turned on.
