1. Turn off the engine and let the vehicle sit for a few minutes to allow the fuel pressure to dissipate.
2. Turn the key to the "ON" position without starting the engine. This will power up the fuel pump.
3. Go to the rear of the vehicle and listen near the fuel tank. You should hear a low humming or buzzing sound coming from the fuel pump.
4. If you don't hear any sound, it could indicate a defective fuel pump.
Here are some additional things to look for that may indicate a defective fuel pump:
- Loss of power while driving
- Stalling or hesitation when accelerating
- Difficulty starting the vehicle, especially after it has been sitting for a while
If you suspect your fuel pump may be defective, it's best to have it checked by a qualified mechanic.
