How do you change spark plugs in a 2000 dodge van 1500 3.9 liter?

Tools:

* Socket wrench

* Spark plug wrench

* Gapping tool

* New spark plugs (check your owner's manual for the correct type)

Instructions:

1. Remove the air cleaner housing. This is typically held in place by a few bolts.

2. Locate the spark plug wires. They are the thick, black wires that run from the distributor cap to the spark plugs.

3. Remove the spark plug wires. Pull the boots off the spark plugs by gripping them firmly and pulling straight up.

4. Clean the spark plug wells. Use a wire brush to remove any dirt or debris from the spark plug wells.

5. Remove the old spark plugs. Use a spark plug wrench to loosen and remove the spark plugs.

6. Check the gap on the new spark plugs. The gap should be set to the specification listed in your owner's manual.

7. Install the new spark plugs. Thread the new spark plugs into the spark plug wells by hand until they are finger-tight. Then, use the spark plug wrench to tighten the spark plugs until they are snug.

8. Reinstall the spark plug wires. Push the boots onto the spark plugs until they snap into place.

9. Reinstall the air cleaner housing.
