Why do you need cells in your car battery?

There are no cells in a car battery. A car battery is made up of a series of lead-acid cells. Each cell consists of two lead plates (one positive and one negative) immersed in a solution of sulfuric acid. When the battery is connected to a circuit, the chemical reaction between the lead plates and the sulfuric acid produces an electrical current.
