2. Locate the fuel filter. On the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500, the fuel filter is located on the driver's side of the engine compartment, behind the front bumper cover.
3. Remove the fuel filter cover, and then disconnect the fuel hoses from the filter. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
4. Remove the fuel filter from the fuel line.
5. Install the new fuel filter. Tighten the fuel hoses onto the filter, and then replace the fuel filter cover.
6. Lower the truck, and then start the engine. Check for leaks.
