Instructions:
Step 1: Disconnect Your Car Battery
1. Park your car in a safe location and turn off the engine.
2. Open your car's hood.
3. Locate the negative battery terminal (usually marked with a "-") and the positive battery terminal (usually marked with a "+").
4. Locate the cable attached to the negative terminal.
5. Using the appropriate wrench or nut driver, loosen the nut or bolt holding the cable to the negative terminal.
6. Remove the nut or bolt and lift the cable off the terminal.
7. Move the cable away from the battery so that it doesn't accidentally come into contact with the terminal again.
Step 2: Remove the Battery Hold-Down Clamp
1. Locate the battery hold-down clamp at the bottom of the battery.
2. The clamp is usually secured by a bolt going into the tray and a nut on top of the tray.
3. Use the 5/16-inch nut driver/wrench and loosen the nut.
4. Use a phillips screwdriver and loosen the bolt that is going into the tray.
5. Remove the loosened nut, bolt and the metal clamp.
Step 3: Remove the Battery
1. Disconnect the positive terminal cable by the same procedure you used for the negative terminal.
2. Place the wrench between the positive terminal and the battery, not touching the terminal.
3. Grasp the terminal clamp at the battery end with one hand and slowly pull the battery out of the car.
4. Set the battery aside in a safe place.
To Reinstall the Battery:
1. Slide the battery carefully back into the battery compartment.
2. Reconnect the positive terminal cable first, then the negative terminal cable.
3. Reconnect the hold-down clamp.
4. Close your car's hood.
5. Test your car's electrical system to ensure everything is working properly.
