1. Gather your tools and materials. You will need:
* A new fuel filter. Choose one that is specifically made for your model of Toyota Avensis.
* A fuel filter wrench.
* A screwdriver.
* A funnel.
* A container for the old fuel.
* Safety goggles.
2. Prepare your vehicle. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down completely. Set the parking brake. Engage neutral. Open up the hood.
3. Locate the fuel filter. The fuel filter is usually located under the vehicle, near the fuel tank. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with two fuel lines connected to it.
4. Disconnect the fuel lines. Use the fuel filter wrench to loosen the fuel line clamps and then pull the hoses off of the fuel filter. Be careful not to spill any fuel.
5. Remove the fuel filter. Once the fuel lines are disconnected, you can use the screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the fuel filter in place. Then, simply lift the fuel filter out of the housing.
6. Install the new fuel filter. Place the new fuel filter in the housing and secure it with the screws. Make sure that the arrows on the fuel filter are pointing in the direction of fuel flow.
7. Reconnect the fuel lines. Slide the fuel lines back onto the fuel filter and reconnect the clamps. Tighten the clamps until they are snug.
8. Start the engine. Once the fuel lines are reconnected, start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will allow the fuel filter to fill up with fuel.
9. Check for leaks. Look under the vehicle for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the fuel line clamps until the leaks stop.
That's it! You have now successfully changed the fuel filter on your Toyota Avensis.
