How do you change spark plug wires on Chevy S-10?

How to Change Spark Plug Wires on a Chevy S-10

1. Gather your tools and materials. You will need:

* A set of spark plug wires

* A ratchet set

* A spark plug wrench

* A screwdriver

* Needle-nose pliers

* Dielectric grease

2. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent the engine from starting while you are working on it. To disconnect the battery, simply use a wrench to loosen the negative terminal nut and then remove the terminal from the battery.

3. Remove the old spark plug wires. Start by pulling the wire boot off of the spark plug. Then, use a spark plug wrench to loosen the wire from the spark plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the cylinder head. Once the wire is loose, gently remove it from the spark plug.

4. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the remaining spark plug wires.

5. Install the new spark plug wires. Start by threading the new wire onto the spark plug. Be sure to tighten the wire until it is snug. Then, push the wire boot onto the spark plug. Make sure that the boot is seated properly.

6. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the remaining spark plug wires.

7. Reconnect the battery.

8. Start the engine and check for proper spark. To check for proper spark, simply remove one of the spark plug wires from the spark plug. Hold the wire close to the spark plug and start the engine. If there is a proper spark, you will see a spark jump between the wire and the spark plug.

9. Repeat step 8 for the remaining spark plug wires.

Tip: Be sure to apply dielectric grease to the spark plug boots before installing them. This will help to prevent the boots from becoming brittle and cracking.
