1. Open the hood of your BMW.
2. Locate the battery in the trunk, on the passenger side of the car.
3. The battery is held in place by a plastic cover. Remove the cover by unscrewing the four screws that hold it in place.
4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal by loosening the nut on the terminal.
5. Disconnect the positive battery terminal by loosening the nut on the terminal.
6. Remove the battery from the car by lifting it out of the battery compartment.
2012-2018

4. Disconnect the negative battery terminal by loosening the nut on the terminal.
5. Disconnect the positive battery terminal by loosening the nut on the terminal.
6. Remove the battery from the car by lifting it out of the battery compartment.
