How do you flush transmission fluid on 2002 Hyundai?

Tools and Materials:

- New transmission fluid (check your owner's manual for the recommended type and amount)

- Fluid pump or funnel

- Wrench

- Rags

- Safety glasses

Procedure:

1. Prepare your vehicle. Park your vehicle on a level surface and apply the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. Engage the vehicle in "Park." Engage the parking brake.

2. Locate the transmission fluid drain plug. The transmission fluid drain plug is usually located on the bottom of the transmission pan. It is typically a 17mm bolt. Use a rag to clean around the drain plug.

3. Place a drain pan under the transmission drain plug. Position a drain pan with at least a 4-quart capacity under the drain plug to catch the old fluid.

4. Loosen the transmission fluid drain plug. Use a wrench to loosen the transmission fluid drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the drain pan. Allow the old fluid to drain completely into the drain pan.

5. Replace the transmission fluid drain plug. Once the old fluid has drained completely, replace the transmission fluid drain plug. Tighten the drain plug to the specified torque (usually 18-22 ft-lbs).

6. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug. The transmission fluid fill plug is usually located on the top or side of the transmission. It is typically a 17mm bolt.

7. Add new transmission fluid. Use a fluid pump or funnel to add new transmission fluid to the transmission. Add the amount of fluid specified in your owner's manual. It may be necessary to cycle through a few gears on your transmission after adding a small amount of fluid each time.

8. Check the transmission fluid level. Use a dipstick or fluid level sight plug to check the transmission fluid level. The fluid level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick or fluid level sight plug. If your fluid level is too low on your first attempt, add a small amount of fluid and repeat steps 7-8.

Tips:

- Be careful not to overfill the transmission with fluid. Overfilling can cause transmission damage.

- If you are unable to locate the transmission fluid drain or fill plugs, consult your owner's manual or a qualified mechanic.

- Transmission fluid can be harmful if ingested. Avoid contact with your skin and eyes. If contact occurs, wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water.
