How to Replace the Water Pump on a Chrysler 300C (5.7-Liter Engine)

*Tools and Materials*

- New water pump (Mopar Part # 05183319AA)

- Water pump gasket (Mopar Part # 05183501AA)

- Coolant (Mopar Part # 05126116AB, 1 gallon)

- 10mm socket and wrench

- 13mm socket and wrench

- 15mm socket and wrench

- Phillips-head screwdriver

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Pliers

- Funnel

- Rags

- Safety glasses

1. Park your car on a level surface and allow the engine to cool down.

2. Open the hood of your car.

3. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery using the 10mm wrench.

4. Drain the coolant from the radiator. There is a drain petcock on the bottom of the radiator. Unscrew the drain petcock and allow the coolant to drain into a drain pan.

5. Remove the engine fan assembly. There are four 10mm bolts that hold the fan assembly in place. Remove these bolts and lift the fan assembly off the engine.

6. Remove the water pump pulley. There is a single 13mm bolt that holds the water pump pulley in place. Remove this bolt and pull the pulley off the water pump.

7. Remove the water pump. There are four 10mm bolts that hold the water pump in place. Remove these bolts and pull the water pump off the engine.

8. Clean the mating surface of the water pump and the engine block. Remove any old gasket material and make sure the surfaces are clean and free of debris.

9. Apply a thin layer of sealant to the water pump gasket. Make sure the sealant is applied evenly to both sides of the gasket.

10. Install the water pump gasket on the engine block. Make sure the gasket is properly aligned with the water pump mounting holes.

11. Install the water pump on the engine block. Insert the four 10mm bolts and tighten them until they are snug.

12. Install the water pump pulley. Insert the 13mm bolt and tighten it until it is snug.

13. Install the engine fan assembly. Insert the four 10mm bolts and tighten them until they are snug.

14. Fill the radiator with coolant. Use the funnel to add coolant to the radiator until it reaches the "FULL" mark.

15. Connect the negative terminal of the battery.

16. Start the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks from the water pump. If you see any leaks, stop the engine and tighten the water pump bolts until the leaks stop.

17. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.

18. Check the coolant level in the radiator and add more coolant if necessary.
