Tools Needed:
-Flathead screwdriver
-Phillips head screwdriver
-New power window switch
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the Battery:
Before starting any electrical work, disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any accidental electrical shocks.
2. Remove the Door Panel:
- Using the flathead screwdriver, pry open the plastic cover of the door handle.
- Remove the two Phillips head screws underneath the plastic cover.
- Gently pry the door panel upwards and off the door, starting from the bottom and working your way up. You may need to use the flathead screwdriver to help release the clips holding the panel in place.
- You may need to use the flathead screwdriver to release any additional plastic clips holding the panel in place.
- Set the door panel aside in a safe place.
3. Locate the Power Window Switch:
The power window switch is usually located in the driver's door, on the door panel armrest.
4. Disconnect the Electrical Connectors:
- Use your flathead screwdriver to release the tabs holding the electrical connectors in place.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors from the switch.
- Note the positions of the connectors so you can reconnect them correctly later.
5. Remove the Old Switch:
- Remove the two Phillips head screws holding the switch in place.
- Gently pull the switch out of the door panel.
6. Install the New Switch:
- Connect the electrical connectors to the new switch. Make sure to align them properly.
- Secure the switch in place using the two Phillips head screws.
7. Test the Switch:
- Before reattaching the door panel, test the switch by operating the power windows. Make sure all windows are functioning correctly.
8. Reattach the Door Panel:
- Carefully align the door panel with the door frame.
- Press the panel firmly into place, making sure all clips are engaged.
- Reinstall the two Phillips head screws removed earlier.
- Reinstall the plastic cover over the door handle and press it firmly until it snaps into place.
9. Reconnect the Battery:
Reconnect the negative battery terminal to restore power to the vehicle.
Your power window switch should now be successfully replaced, and your vehicle's power windows should be functioning correctly.
