According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, "It is a violation of the law to drive a motor vehicle in Texas without liability insurance. If you are caught driving without insurance, you could face a fine of up to $1,000, a suspended license, and/or jail time."
Additionally, if you are involved in an accident while driving without insurance, you could be held financially responsible for any damages caused to the other driver's vehicle or property.
