Is it bad to drive your car on empty?

Driving your car on empty can be bad for it in several ways:

1. Fuel pump damage: When your car is low on fuel, the fuel pump has to work harder to draw fuel from the tank. This can cause the pump to overheat and eventually fail. Replacing a fuel pump can be expensive.

2. Engine damage: Driving on empty can cause the engine to run lean, which means it's not getting enough fuel. This can cause the engine to overheat and can lead to serious damage, such as piston seizure.

3. Clogged fuel injectors: When there's not enough fuel in the tank, the fuel injectors don't get enough lubrication. This can cause the injectors to become clogged, which can lead to engine problems.

4. Stalling: If you run out of gas, your car will simply stall. This can be dangerous if you're in traffic or in a remote area.

It's best to avoid driving on empty whenever possible. If you do find yourself low on fuel, it's a good idea to fill up as soon as possible.
