How loud is an electric car?
The answer to this can vary greatly, from almost completely silent to not as quiet as conventional cars. Pure electric cars tend to be notably quiet because in place of an internal combustion engine, an electric motor is usually used to propel an electric car, which in contrast doesn't produce combustion sounds. Some quiet types can include the Porsche Taycan. While quieter, there is sound to be made aware of that would be otherwise drowned out by a combustion engine. Examples include the sound of the tires on the road and any potential electrical motor whining (which is usually inaudible in cars with noise isolation). Other electric cars, which are hybrid (both gasoline and electric powered) such as the Toyota Prius, may not necessarily be all that quiet due to the engine still being used.
