1. Make sure that you have addressed the issue that caused the check engine light to come on in the first place. If you don't address the underlying problem, the check engine light will likely come back on again soon.
2. Turn the key to the "On" position, but don't start the engine.
3. Press and hold the odometer reset button (located on the instrument panel) for 5 seconds.
4. While continuing to hold the odometer reset button, turn the key to the "Start" position.
5. Continue to hold the odometer reset button for another 5 seconds, then release it.
6. The check engine light should now be reset.
If the check engine light does not reset after following these steps, you may need to have your vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic.
