1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical accidents while you are working on the switch.
2. Remove the old headlight switch. The headlight switch is located on the left side of the dashboard. It is held in place by two screws. Remove the screws and carefully pull the switch out of the dashboard.
3. Disconnect the wiring from the old headlight switch. There are three wires that are connected to the headlight switch: a black wire, a white wire, and a blue wire. Disconnect the wires by pressing down on the small tabs on the sides of the connectors and gently pulling the wires out of the connectors.
4. Connect the wiring to the new headlight switch. Connect the black wire to the black terminal on the new switch. Connect the white wire to the white terminal on the new switch. Connect the blue wire to the blue terminal on the new switch.
5. Install the new headlight switch. Carefully insert the new headlight switch into the dashboard. Secure the switch in place with the two screws that you removed in step 2.
6. Reconnect the battery.
If you followed the steps provided, you should now have successfully installed a new headlight switch on your 1974 Super Beetle.
