Where is the alternator located on a 1995 range rover?

1995 Range Rover 4.2L V8 - Alternator Replacement Guide

Tools Needed:

* 1/2-inch drive ratchet

* 1/2-inch drive extension

* 1/2-inch drive 15mm socket

* 1/2-inch drive 13mm socket

* Flat-head screwdriver

* Pliers

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This is located on the passenger side of the engine bay, near the top.

2. Remove the serpentine belt. The serpentine belt is located on the front of the engine, and it drives the alternator, power steering pump, and air conditioning compressor. To remove the serpentine belt, you will need to use the 1/2-inch drive ratchet and 1/2-inch drive 15mm socket.

3. Unbolt the alternator from the engine. There are two bolts that hold the alternator in place. The first is located at the top of the alternator, and the second is located at the bottom. Use the 1/2-inch drive ratchet and 1/2-inch drive 13mm socket to remove these bolts.

4. Remove the alternator from the car. Once the bolts have been removed, you will be able to remove the alternator from the car. Be careful, as the alternator can be quite heavy.

5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the alternator. The electrical connector is located on the back of the alternator. Use your hands or a pair of pliers to disconnect it.

6. Install the new alternator. Reverse the steps above to install the new alternator.

7. Reconnect the serpentine belt.

8. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

Tips:

* If the alternator is still not charging, you may need to have the voltage regulator checked.

* If you are not comfortable performing this repair yourself, you can take your car to a mechanic.
